Chapter 9:The Market Revolution

Complaint of a Lowell Factory worker 1845.

1-Why does the female factory worker compare her conditions with those of slaves?

She compares her conditions to those of slaves because se realizes that instead of being treated as a free persons who came by themselves, she was treated worst than slaves, she could not complain and work how she wanted to and would love to. She wanted to be free at her work, but she was treated as slave with any power it was like submission. In her complain, she realized that slaves were treated better than her, yet she would not accept to be like slave because she was not.

2- Why does she doubt the sincerity of the Christian beliefs of the factory owners ?

She doubt because her conditions of work were horrible in this factory. It was unacceptable for her that they beliefs in God and treat people like slaves. Treated worst than slaves for something she decided to do was unbelievable.
